On Monday, July 21, the Nomad Futurist Foundation had the privilege of hosting an extraordinary data center tour in partnership with Evocative at their state-of-the-art facility in Santa Clara, California. This event was part of the World Journal Silicon Valley Tech Summer Camp agenda, and it brought together an eager and inspiring group of international students from Taiwan, all of whom had traveled thousands of miles to deepen their understanding of technology and global innovation during their short, two-week stay in the U.S.
Despite their tight itinerary, these students made it a top priority to connect with Nomad Futurist and experience the infrastructure behind our digital world firsthand. Their enthusiasm and curiosity were palpable from the moment they stepped through the doors.
The afternoon began with a presentation led by Nomad Futurist Co-Founder Nabeel Mahmood and Advisors Anahita Mouro and Jodie Lin, who introduced the students to the mission of the Foundation: to demystify the digital infrastructure industry, spotlight the people and technologies driving it, and create accessible pathways for the next generation of talent. Students learned about the many career opportunities within the ecosystem, from design and engineering to operations and sustainability, and were invited to join the Nomad Futurist Academy, a free learning platform offering self-paced educational modules built to inform and empower future innovators.
From there, attendees embarked on a guided tour of the Evocative data center, exploring the racks, systems, and security layers that quietly support our hyperconnected lives. For many, this was their first time inside a data center, transforming abstract concepts into something tangible and exciting. Questions flew throughout the tour as students engaged actively, seeking clarity and demonstrating genuine interest in the critical role infrastructure plays in every digital interaction today.
This tour was a cross-cultural exchange of knowledge and ambition. It reflected the global scale of digital transformation and highlighted the importance of building bridges between seasoned industry professionals and emerging young minds from around the world.
We are immensely grateful to our partners at Evocative for welcoming the students and helping bring this vision to life. Their openness and support continue to make impactful, educational experiences like this possible.
As we look to the future, Nomad Futurist Foundation invites educators, students, professionals, and companies to join us in these efforts. Whether you’d like to host a tour, become a Foundation member, or simply learn more about digital infrastructure, there’s a place for you in this movement.
Get in touch to be part of something bigger. Help shape the future of digital infrastructure through access, exposure, and education.
