On February 19, the mission of the Nomad Futurist Foundation came to life in a powerful way at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois.

Foundation Ambassador Scott Charter took the stage for a timely and energizing panel discussion: “AI Without the Hype: Practical Implementation for Employers.” The room was filled with more than 200 students, faculty members, and regional business leaders, all eager to better understand how artificial intelligence is shaping the future of work.

Joining respected local leaders including Vala Afshar, Chief Digital Evangelist at Salesforce, Scott helped steer the conversation beyond headlines and speculation. The focus was clear: What does AI adoption actually look like inside organizations? What skills are employers seeking? And how can students begin preparing now for careers that are rapidly evolving?

For Nomad Futurist, this wasn’t simply a speaking engagement; it was strategic workforce engagement.

Harper College serves approximately 26,000 students, many of whom are pursuing practical, career-focused pathways. Engaging this audience reflects exactly why the Foundation exists: to expand awareness of digital infrastructure careers, build bridges between education and industry, and ensure the next generation sees a place for themselves in this ecosystem.

Throughout the discussion, Scott emphasized a message central to our mission: technology may be advancing quickly, but the industry’s greatest need remains people. The future of AI, digital infrastructure, and mission-critical operations will depend on informed, skilled, and inspired talent entering the workforce.

Beyond the panel itself, meaningful connections were formed. Scott recruited new educator-partners interested in collaborating with the Foundation, expanding our network and strengthening the pipeline between classroom learning and industry opportunity. These relationships are how exposure turns into access, and access turns into careers.

And this momentum continues.

In late April, Scott will return to the Chicago area to lead a hands-on AI laboratory at a Chicago public high school, bringing Harper students alongside him to support the experience. This layered model of industry leaders mentoring college students, who then help inspire high school learners, exemplifies the ripple effect we strive to create. If you’re local to the area and interested in getting involved, please reach out to the Nomad team at enquiry@nomadfuturist.org.

We are incredibly grateful for Scott’s initiative, leadership, and commitment to activating the Nomad mission in tangible ways. This is what Ambassador engagement looks like: showing up, sharing expertise, building partnerships, and creating pathways.

If you believe the future of digital infrastructure depends on proactive leadership, and not passive conversation, we invite you to request to become an Ambassador.

The work is happening. The momentum is building. And the next generation is ready.
